Plaza Companies and Fayth Hospitality announce groundbreaking for dual-brand hotel near leading healthcare, business and leisure destinations
Plaza Companies and Fayth Hospitality will break ground on Hotel Six Four, Mayo Blvd, a new 257-room dual-brand Hilton hotel at the southeast corner of 64th Street and Mayo Boulevard in North Phoenix.
The six-story hotel will combine the boutique lifestyle experience of Tapestry Collection by Hilton with the extended-stay accommodations of Homewood Suites by Hilton, adding a significant new hospitality offering to one of the Valley’s fastest-growing employment and business corridors.
The area along Loop 101 in North Phoenix and neighboring North Scottsdale has emerged as a major center for corporate headquarters, healthcare, technology and mixed-use development. American Express, Axon and Republic Services are among the major employers with a significant presence in the corridor, while Sprouts Farmers Market is expanding its corporate footprint at City North. Continued investment in Desert Ridge, City North and surrounding communities is bringing additional offices, restaurants, retail and other amenities to the area.
Hotel Six Four, Mayo Blvd is positioned to serve that expanding employment base as well as healthcare and leisure travelers. The property is less than one mile from Mayo Clinic’s Phoenix campus and near the new Brooks Rehabilitation Hospital, ASU’s Health Futures Center and the developing Discovery Oasis biotechnology campus, placing it at the center of a growing healthcare and bioscience ecosystem.
“This project is about much more than adding hotel rooms,” said Sharon Harper, Chairman and CEO of Plaza Companies. “We are developing a hospitality destination in a remarkable location — less than a mile from healthcare centers, major corporate employers and some of the Valley’s best dining, shopping and recreational opportunities. It is a location that can serve medical visitors and their families, business travelers and people coming to North Phoenix simply to enjoy everything the area has to offer.”
“As Mayo Clinic continues to grow in Arizona, so does the need for services that support those traveling here for care,” said Richard Gray, M.D., CEO of Mayo Clinic in Arizona. “We care for patients who come to Phoenix from across the country and around the world, often accompanied by family members and caregivers. Convenient lodging, dining and other nearby services is an important part of supporting those patients and families while they are away from home.”
Hotel Six Four, Mayo Blvd will offer two distinct Hilton experiences under one roof. The Tapestry Collection by Hilton portion will feature a locally inspired design rooted in the Sonoran Desert, while Homewood Suites by Hilton will offer extended-stay accommodations with kitchens and living areas, a combination well suited to medical patients and their families as well as corporate and leisure travelers.
A signature first-floor restaurant and bar operated by New York-based Renwick Hospitality Group will offer indoor, outdoor and private dining for both hotel guests and the surrounding community. The hotel will include significant amenities as well, such as a pool, gym, meeting space and much more.
New luxury condominiums, townhomes and Class-A multifamily housing are bringing thousands of additional residents to the area, transforming 64th Street and Mayo Boulevard into a dynamic live-work-play destination.
“North Phoenix continues to attract significant investment in healthcare, business, housing and hospitality, creating new opportunities for residents and strengthening Phoenix’s economy,” Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego said. “Hotel Six Four, Mayo Blvd is a great example of the private investment helping transform this part of our city into a dynamic destination for visitors, businesses and residents.”
Plaza Companies and Fayth Hospitality previously partnered on the dual-branded Tru by Hilton and Home2 Suites by Hilton at Park Central, reinforcing their growing presence in Arizona’s hospitality market.
“We’ve seen firsthand how the right hotel can become an important part of a larger commercial and healthcare ecosystem,” Harper said. “That’s exactly what we see happening here. Hotel Six Four, Mayo Blvd will provide a place to stay, but it will also become an amenity for Mayo Clinic, Brooks Rehabilitation, the area’s businesses and the growing residential community.”
Mayse & Associates is serving as architect, Flick Mars is providing interior design, and EBCO General Contractor is the general contractor.
